Due to their excellent properties, plastics have been used for pipe systems in a wide range of sectors for many years. Plastic pipe systems are being used more and more both above ground and underground. The most important reasons for this are their high level of chemical resistance, their durability, their light weight, their substantial mechanical impact resistance and their flexibility. Plastic pipe systems are low maintenance as they do not corrode.

Plastic pipe systems are used for the discharge of chemicals and water, as well as for industrial process extraction. Our engineers specialise in determining the correct piping based on the given requirements. The following is a summary of the most frequently used materials for both above-ground and underground piping.

High-density polyethylene (HDPE), including electrically conductive HDPE.

Polypropylene (PP), including electrically conductive PP and PP with a higher fire class.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)

Pipe systems can be both single walled and double walled. Double-walled pipe systems are used for chemical systems.

Plastic pipe systems are resistant to internal forces, which makes them suitable for high-pressure pipelines and process extraction. With polypropylene (PP) pipe systems, a distinction is made between high-pressure pipelines and gravity-flow lines. PP (SDR class) is used for high-pressure pipelines due to its chemical resistance in combination with its high temperature range. PP gravity-flow lines (SN class) are available with solid walls or profiled walls. These systems are suitable for withstanding external forces and are mainly used underground.

When plastic pipe systems are used underground, their flexibility means that the pipes can accommodate subsidence in the soil. Both PE and PP are resistant to cracks and fractures, and as the pipes are lightweight, plastic pipe systems do not require foundations.
