The BVOP VVT is a pump turbine with a concrete volute, developed by Stork. The pump can pump as well as turbine efficiently and is also designed to be fish-friendly. As a result, energy can be generated in an efficient and fish-friendly way during the intake of water. This pump turbine is extremely suitable for converting existing pumping stations, either while retaining the old volute or by integrating a new concrete volute.

BVOP VVT: SUSTAINABLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND WATER LIFE

The BVOP VVT pump turbine is sustainable in several ways:
• With the BVOP VVT pump turbine, the existing wet path via the pump is used for the intake of water to the polder. The pumping station functions as a turbine and generates electricity continuously, which can be fed back into the grid.
• The pump has an environmentally friendly bearing and pump shaft seal. Where contact with the pumped medium can occur, the pump is water-lubricated and no grease is used. This prevents pollution of the surface water.
• The pump is certified fish-friendly according to the NEN 8775 standard (>97% fish-friendly), for both the pump and turbine function.
• The design is robust and executed in such a way that only minimal maintenance is required.
• A customer-specific design of the impeller and volute is made based on the requirements of the pumping station. For example, we design an optimally performing pump, based on the desired capacities and head, in combination with optimal operational management.
