KWR onderzoekt onder meer nieuwe (afval)waterzuiveringsconcepten, hergebruik van water, energie en materialen, en de ontwikkeling van bijvoorbeeld circulaire adsorptiematerialen. Ook wordt gewerkt aan oplossingen voor het hergebruik van RO-concentraat en andere geconcentreerde reststromen.\u00a0 Er zijn diverse nieuwe initiatieven en innovaties gaande om de ontwikkeling en toepassing van wetenschap en technologie\u00ebn voor grondstoffenwinning en hergebruik te bevorderen en te versnellen richting de praktijk.
