AEC Systems is a Dutch company specialising in customised industrial air cleaning installations for sectors such as the chemical industry, food industry and waste processing. Biofilter
An AEC biofilter is an eco-friendly and highly effective solution for controlling odours in various applications. It utilizes biologically active materials, known as biomass, to support odor-degrading microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. These microorganisms naturally break down odour-causing compounds, making biofilters a sustainable alternative to chemical or mechanical odour control systems. Biofilter technology: A sustainable solution for clean air Biofilters are a proven and eco-friendly method for odour removal and the treatment of airflows with low or undefined concentrations of contaminants. Through integrated biological regeneration, microorganisms in the biofilter naturally break down harmful substances. This environmentally friendly technology operates under optimal conditions: Ambient temperature: No additional energy required for heating. Neutral pH levels: Ideal balance for microbial activity. Normal pressure: Simplified installation without complex pressure systems. We have successfully implemented biofilter solutions in various industries: Wastewater treatment: Managing airflows containing hydrogen sulphide and other odorous compounds. Composting: Addressing odour issues during organic material processing. Waste management: Eliminating odours in waste storage and processing facilities. World’s largest solar-thermal drying plant with air treatment
Bottrop, Germany, is home to the world's largest solar-thermal drying installation. For this project, AEC Systems was responsible for air purification. We have designed, manufactured, and supplied 32 single-stage scrubbers, air ducts, acid tank, and spray tank.
