Nijhuis MicroOxi
Micropollutants are persistent contaminants originating from everyday activities, posing a serious risk to water quality. Treating wastewater contaminated with these substances is highly complex, and there is no universal solution. Achieving effective removal requires a customized combination of technologies, carefully aligned with the specific characteristics of the wastewater and local regulatory requirements. Nijhuis Saur Industries has developed the MicroOxi solution to support WWTPs in addressing micropollutant challenges with sustainable, client-focused approaches. Depending on the local context, we apply an optimized mix of oxidation technologies, including BODAC. Our method is designed to minimize both total cost of ownership and environmental impact. With our extensive portfolio of micropollutant-removal technologies, we ensure the selection of the most suitable solution to meet your removal targets and resilience requirements.

Industrial and Municpal Water Re-Use
Ultra Filtration (UF) membranes The skid-mounted UF technology offers a superior barrier for viruses and bacteria removal and a solid pre-treatment for reverse osmosis. The small pore size ensures reduced membrane fouling. Our DEEPEST technology containing titanium membranes (TiO2 membranes) consists of an internal titanium liner combining unique properties with top-level performance for difficult to treat wastewater. Direct Nano Filtration (dNF) membranes With the dNF, minimum pre-treatment is required. This unit can be implemented to remove color, bacteria and viruses for drinking water and wastewater applications in one single step: without pre-treatment and without the use of chemicals. • Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes The reverse osmosis technology has maximal efficiency due to a smart design and high quality execution of the skid. The unit removes dissolved components, such as ions, heavy metals, TOC and viruses. • Ceramic membrane (CeraMac®) CeraMac® is an innovative and cost-effective ceramic membrane filtration process to produce drinking water. This design allows the economically feasible use of ceramic membranes on surface water for large-scale applications, as well as in reuse and desalination pre-treatment applications. • Electro-deionization (EDI) Electro-deionization is a continuous process used to polish deionized water, a chemicals-free alternative to conventional resin mixed bed exchangers. It is a form of deionization that uses electricity to remove the ions from the water. • Suspended ion exchange process (SIX®) SIX® is a suspended ion exchange process as an alternative to coagulation for organics removal. It is suitable for treating surface waters to remove dissolved organics. Brine Treatment Solutions (MLD / ZLD) • Evaporator (No-Briner) Modular innovative plastic multi-effect evaporator with exchangeable cartridges • Concentrator Evaporator for brine of RO concentrates

IntenSieve® — the fine‑screening technology of the future.
The CirTec fine screen is a rotating belt filter designed for separating suspended solids from water. Depending on the application and the solids to be removed, the machines are equipped with a screen cloth with a mesh size ranging from 90 to 1,000 microns. The fine screen models are available in various machine sizes, allowing a wide range of flow capacities to be processed. By combining multiple machines, any required flow rate can be handled. With around sixty operational fine screens in the Netherlands, CirTec is the market leader in fine screening technology in the country. Fine screens can be used for various applications, including reducing the load on downstream treatment processes and effluent polishing. CirTec has references at both municipal wastewater treatment plants and across a wide range of industries, such as food production, recycling, and tanneries.

CellCap
Recovering raw materials and saving energy are the key characteristics of the CellCap® process. Cellulose, the main component of toilet paper, is one of the raw materials that can be recovered from wastewater. CellCap® is the technology for producing clean, marketable cellulose. In addition to producing a valuable raw material, the CellCap® installation offers a significant reduction in energy consumption for aeration in the wastewater treatment plant. Moreover, by recovering cellulose, the amount of sludge produced—and therefore the consumption of chemicals—is minimized, the treatment capacity is increased, and costs are sustainably reduced. CellCap® already received the Aquatech Innovation Award in 2017. According to the jury: “This is a very good example of resource recovery and is a perfect example of the circular economy in action.”

Disc Filter; effluent polishing
Years of experience in the field of tertiary wastewater treatment have led to the development of a Disc Filter with the highest performance, suitable for a wide range of applications for both domestic and industrial installations. The Disc Filter can be used for tertiary filtration in municipal or industrial applications, filtration of process water, and the reuse of (waste)water. The principle of filtration using filter discs is extremely simple. The water to be filtered flows by gravity into the rotating central drum, into the discs that are covered on both sides with micro‑screen cloth. The water flows from the inside to the outside through the panels. The solids are collected on the panels, and the purified water passes through. As soon as the amount of captured material increases to the point that clogging begins to occur on the filter plates, the liquid level in the machine starts to rise. This causes the screen to rotate, exposing a clean section of screen cloth. The captured material is rinsed off the cloth and discharged from the machine through a central trough.

Belt Thickener – thickening sludge streams
With the CirTec GT‑Optima belt thickener, liquid streams with very low concentrations of suspended solids—such as sludges—can be thickened. On an endless belt, sludge conditioned with polyelectrolyte is thickened. Independently mounted ploughs resting on the filter cloth turn and rotate the sludge, allowing water to escape from the sludge layer and preventing water from accumulating in formed grooves. An adjustable weir at the discharge end of the machine ensures a high degree of thickening. After discharge of the thickened material, the belt is cleaned by a spray system. Of the 500 Giotto Water references worldwide, 22 belt thickeners are operational in the Netherlands and Belgium. Features of the belt thickener: -Smooth and uniform gravity thickening -Very low polymer consumption -High dry solids content in the thickened sludge -Very clean filtrate (suitable for belt cleaning) -Consistent thickened sludge quality, independent of inlet concentration

Belt Filter Press – dewatering sludge into a stackable product
The dewatering characteristics of sludge can vary significantly depending on its specific properties. Mineral sludges and highly fibrous sludges behave very differently from biological sludges — not only in terms of dewatering performance, but also in abrasiveness. For that reason, we offer a broad range of dewatering machines tailored to the characteristics of each sludge type. BPF WR Greenland: dewatering of biological sludges SD: dewatering of mineral sludges CMF Optima: dewatering of sludges from municipal wastewater treatment plants and industry across various concentrations BPF‑C: dewatering of heavy sludge types, where high pressure must be applied quickly
