NORIT Activated Carbon
About us
NORIT Activated Carbon is one of the worlds largest and most experienced activated carbon manufacturers, offering a complete range of products, services, and technical support. Thanks to NORIT's history of innovation, product performance, technical expertise, and customer focus, you will always receive the right products and solutions for your specific purification needs. NORIT Activated Carbon products are used to efficiently and cost-effectively remove contaminants, pollutants, and other impurities from water, gas and air, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and other liquids. Our activated carbon solutions are also used as colorants, catalyst carriers, or catalysts in industrial processes. With over 100 years of experience in innovation, manufacturing, and product development, we produce a wide range of activated carbon types from various raw materials, including lignite, peat, bituminous coal, coconut shell, olive pits, and wood. We have developed more than 400 different types of activated carbon, ensuring our customers always receive a solution that perfectly matches their application and performs better than a standard solution. In addition to a global sales and production network, we also have a global application support team and two R&D centers.
We operate a number of reactivation plants from where we offer our customers reactivation services of their spent carbons, restoring them to near the original performance to be fully re-used again.
Operating a fleet of mobile rental filters we can offer our customers this flexible, fast and capex-free solution for purification challenges that cannot wait for new built filters or where opex is preferred to investment.

Products

NORIT GAC 1240 AFM
One of our newly developed product lines is our AFM range of broken activated carbon. Developed to be highly effective in all sorts of water, including those containing higher levels of background organics (NOM), this carbon range boasts a special engineered pore system that can harbour all sorts of pollutants even when TOC is high. Highly effective for PFAS removal and all sorts of pesticides and metabolites.

NORIT activated carbon for biogas and biomethane
Our DARCO® BG 1 and DARCO BG 1P are high performance activated carbons developed specifically for removing H2S from biogas streams. Next to our DARCO products we offer a range of NORIT grades for other Biogas applications.

Mobile activated carbon filters for rent
NORIT operates a fleet of rental filters. Filled with the proper type of activated carbon, these filters are easy to start up and operate and will help you solve your purification challenge without any investment; just operating costs. Flexible systems, easy to scale up or down. And you only pay for as long as you use them.

Activated carbon reactivation services
NORIT operates several activated carbon reactivation plants, where granular and extruded activated carbon, once spent and not effective enough anymore, can be reactivated and thereby restored to near its original activity. And this at much lower carbon footprint than compared to virgin replacement. A nice feat of re-use.

NORIT SA SUPER
NORIT also offers a wide range of powdered activated carbon (PACs). One of our best-performing powdered activated carbons is our NORIT SA SUPER. This carbon consistently demonstrates that it requires two to three times lower dosages to achieve the required effluent levels. It is highly suitable for use in PACAS systems, for example, by dosing into activated sludge systems. Suitable for all types of micropollutants, PFAS, pesticides, metabolites, etc.

NORIT GAC 1240 AF
NORIT has a wide portfolio of GAC, granular Activated Carbon, like our NORIT GAC 1240 AF. This carbon is also available in 830 and 1020 mesh sizes. Used in fixed beds, these carbon grades can solve many water purification challenges.

NORIT ROW 0.8 SUPRA
NORIT produces a range of extruded activated carbon, activated carbon in cylindrical shape, such as the NORIT ROW 0.8 SUPRA. This 0.8 mm extruded product has superior purification and filtration behaviour. It is used in fixed beds just as any GAC product. It has a lower pressure drop due to its uniform shape and a highly developed pore system to be highly effective in all sorts of water. Highly effective in PFAS removal.
