
Wastewater engineer
Within our Water Technology business unit, we develop and design the vital water chain for a future-proof working and living environment. We do this through multidisciplinary consultancy and engineering in the field of installations for drinking water, process water, wastewater and infrastructure. Our clients mainly include drinking water companies, water authorities, municipalities and provinces, contractors and industry. Our footprint in the industrial market is growing rapidly, where the tension between production, water availability, water treatment, circularity and compliance is increasing.
As a wastewater technologist, you work in multidisciplinary project teams as a consultant and designer on sewer and wastewater treatment plants. You translate client challenges into concrete consultancy questions and provide technically sound solutions. You advise on feasibility, define and compare alternatives, perform life-cycle and multi-criteria analyses and provide hands-on support when installations are not performing properly. You also develop static and dynamic models of treatment plants and advise on substances of very high concern such as PFAS. By applying leading-edge technologies in your work, you help make the vital water chain future-proof.
Examples of projects include:
- Modelling a large Dutch WWTP in SUMO, aimed at optimising effluent quality
- Solving operational challenges at a treatment plant of a food processing company
- Designing inDENSE® applications, the technology that adds extra treatment capacity to existing plants
- Designing BIOCOS® installations, the remarkably simple technology that enables the construction of compact WWTPs
