AWS Zwanenburg | Renovation and expansion of WWTP
The Heemstede and Haarlem-Schalkwijk WWTPs have reached the end of their technical lifespan after 30 years. The wastewater from the Heemstede and Haarlem-Schalkwijk WWTPs will be transported to Zwanenburg WWTP via a new transport system to be constructed. Zwanenburg WWTP is being partly renovated and expanded to be able to process the increase in waste water. This makes Zwanenburg WWTP the largest treatment plant in HHR Rijnland.
The renovation and expansion of the WWTP mainly consists of:
- a new reception work with 4 perforation grilles and its own odor treatment
- an additional aeration tank
- an additional settling tank with sludge return auger
- an effluent booster pumping station to guarantee the increase in effluent discharge
- replacing blower installation with turbo blowers
- replacing AT's aeration installations with retrievable aeration
- replaced mixers and propellers in selector, anaerobic and ATs
- overhaul existing reamers of secondary settling tanks
- overhaul existing return sludge augers
- conversion of the current reception work into a sludge transport pumping station
The initial design capacity of the WWTP will be increased from 6,000 m3/h to 8,400 m3/h due to the expansion work.
RWB carries out the mechanical engineering work on behalf of Mobilis within the water purification alliance.
