Belt Thickener – thickening sludge streams

With the CirTec GT‑Optima belt thickener, liquid streams with very low concentrations of suspended solids—such as sludges—can be thickened. On an endless belt, sludge conditioned with polyelectrolyte is thickened. Independently mounted ploughs resting on the filter cloth turn and rotate the sludge, allowing water to escape from the sludge layer and preventing water from accumulating in formed grooves. An adjustable weir at the discharge end of the machine ensures a high degree of thickening. After discharge of the thickened material, the belt is cleaned by a spray system. Of the 500 Giotto Water references worldwide, 22 belt thickeners are operational in the Netherlands and Belgium.
