CellCap

Recovering raw materials and saving energy are the key characteristics of the CellCap® process. Cellulose, the main component of toilet paper, is one of the raw materials that can be recovered from wastewater. CellCap® is the technology for producing clean, marketable cellulose.

In addition to producing a valuable raw material, the CellCap® installation offers a significant reduction in energy consumption for aeration in the wastewater treatment plant. Moreover, by recovering cellulose, the amount of sludge produced—and therefore the consumption of chemicals—is minimized, the treatment capacity is increased, and costs are sustainably reduced.

CellCap® already received the Aquatech Innovation Award in 2017. According to the jury: “This is a very good example of resource recovery and is a perfect example of the circular economy in action.”
