Aannemingsbedrijf G. van der Ven BV
Gouda floodgate
Commissioned by the Rijnland Water Authority, Aannemingsbedrijf G. van der Ven is renovating the monumental Keersluis lock. This project will make the lock future-proof and bring it into line with current water safety requirements, while retaining its historic appearance from 1931.
Work will start in February 2026 and will take approximately one and a half years to complete. Van der Ven will repair concrete and natural stone structures within a watertight construction pit, replace the lock gates, and renew the fencing and railings. By working in phases, the pumping station will remain operational during the renovation.
This is a project that combines water safety, craftsmanship, and careful handling of historical heritage.
