Nanobubble influent pretreatment
Influent pretreatment by injecting nanobubbles optimizes wastewater treatment processes by removing inhibitory compounds. Activated sludge processes become more efficient because the bacteria get healthier and the aeration efficiency goes up. Less sludge inhibition, better aeration efficiency, means faster nutrient conversion, less energy and less chemicals. In else, more biological capacity with the same infrastructure.
Inhibitory compounds to sludge health and aeration efficiency such as surfactants and quarternary ammonium compounds are used in personal care products, cleaning and sanitation products or degreasers. They are micropollutants present in the highest concentrations measured by chemical screening of all detected micropollutants. They are used domestically in steady amounts and industrially as a result of Cleaning in Place procedures or within primary production. Surfactants make fats and oils harder to remove from the wastewater as they emulsify. The compounds share in common that they adsorp to the biomass as well as stick to air bubbles, preventing efficiënt oxygen uptake and oxygen transfer.
Techras Nanobubbles has developed innovative technology and methods based on scientifically proven physical/chemical properties and behaviour of nanobubbles and these inhibitory compounds. Full scalle pilots and permanent installation at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment processes have demonstrated significant value in improving effluent quality, reducing operational expenses and CO2 emissions and avoiding infrastructural expansions. This makes nanobubble influent pre-treatment suitable and beneficial for basically every plant.
