Commissioned by the Rijnland Water Authority, the Van der Ven – RWB combination completed the renovation and expansion of the Nieuwe Wetering wastewater treatment plant (AWZI). The capacity of the treatment plant has been increased by more than 40%, which was necessary to be able to process the increase in waste flows in the future. The expansion includes the construction of an anaerobic tank, new site pipes, a new reception work and a second secondary settling tank, which means that the treatment capacity is now 1150 m³ per hour.
In addition, the existing installation has been renovated both mechanically and electrically, so that the AWZI can continue to function for the next 15 years without major maintenance. The project has now been successfully completed and the treatment plant is ready for the future.
