Van der Ven is working on the construction of the cooling water pump building, an essential part of the project that provides cooling for the compressor station, on behalf of Porthos. The Porthos project, carried out by the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Gasunie and EBN, focuses on transporting and storing CO2 from the Port of Rotterdam in empty gas fields under the North Sea. This offers companies the opportunity to reduce their CO2 emissions and contributes to the climate objectives of the Netherlands and the energy transition.
The cooling water pump building is part of the compressor station, where CO2 is pressurised and cooled with water to regulate the temperature during transport to the platform. Van der Ven is working on the design and construction of the building and the associated installations.
This project is challenging, with a combination of maritime, concrete construction, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering disciplines on a relatively small construction site.
