The “De Blauwe Ader” project in Tilburg, part of the Tilburg Delta Plan, was a response to the city’s limited ability to drain rainwater. It involved the construction of an extensive underground pipe system, similar to a canal under the city, which prevented flooding. With a length of 1.2 kilometers and challenging interfaces with major companies, the project was characterized by a varied set of challenges. The approach included closed front drilling and relining existing sewers. The result was effective rainwater drainage and the prevention of flooded streets after heavy rain showers.
