Water in the CSRD: Value creation or data crunching?

Water in Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (hereafter CSRD) means a lot of data analysis. But where do you start? Without expert knowledge of water and the CSRD, the effects on the environment, people and industry can be underestimated. Consider not only issues of water quantity and quality but also optimization issues and security of supply of (drinking) water for companies and society. To apply the CSRD practically, Bilfinger Tebodin does baseline measurements and develops with you a pragmatic plan to make the reporting requirement a success. The success comes from the integral approach with all stakeholders from the value chain, bringing an executable plan to the table with positive results on your company, the environment and the people.

What’s at stake.
Bilfinger Tebodin aims to consider the availability of water within the industry as an “Insurance Policy.” Water is not always a normative process in business operations, despite being a 1st necessity of life. In response to the CSRD, one may be tempted to start collecting data and then turn this into an accounting issue, but this is contrary to the spirit of the CSRD. Achieving practical and realistic goals starts with engaging subject matter experts to see what is possible. Water quality goes hand in hand with water availability, biodiversity and other themes within the CSRD making it an overarching aspect that deserves an integrated approach!

Strategy for value creation
Together with companies that see the CSRD as more than just a fill-in task, we do baseline measurements and develop a pragmatic plan to ensure that your business strategy has a positive impact on the environment. After all, the value creation lies in the integrated approach to litigation, human actions and the impact on the spatial environment. Experts can make this manageable and feasible, while properly assessing the risks and feasibility.
