Project Keulener Randkanal

Buitenkamp pumps an entire canal with hydraulic calculations and real-time monitoring for maximum safet

Project Description

Work is currently underway along the Keulener Randkanal. As part of planned construction activities, Buitenkamp is responsible for pumping out the entire canal. A temporary bypass system has been installed to control and redirect the water flow, allowing the work to be carried out safely and efficiently.

Technical Preparation

Before the work began, a detailed hydraulic calculation was carried out. This determined the required flow rate, pumping head and overall pumping capacity. These calculations formed the basis for designing and configuring the temporary pumping and bypass system.

Careful preparation is essential to ensure reliable water management throughout the pumping operation. The system has been adapted to the specific conditions of the canal and the requirements of the planned works.

Monitoring and Execution

During the pumping phase, the water level is continuously monitored. This allows changes in the water level to be detected immediately and enables the system to be adjusted when necessary. This helps prevent unwanted fluctuations and reduces additional loads on the canal banks and structures.

The work is being carried out in stages. By adjusting the pumping capacity and water flow according to real-time measurement data, the situation remains stable and manageable throughout the operation.

Result

By combining detailed hydraulic planning, a carefully designed temporary bypass system and continuous monitoring, Buitenkamp ensures that the pumping of the Keulener Randkanal is carried out in a controlled and safe manner. The phased approach and real-time adjustments help maintain a stable water level and reduce the impact on existing infrastructure during the works.
