Project Vilicher Bach
S13 expansion: the Vilicher Bach was temporarily diverted to allow construction of a concrete culvert.
For the S13 expansion, the Vilicher Bach was temporarily diverted through a steel pipe beneath the railway. This allowed the concrete culvert to be constructed safely without disrupting rail traffic.
A flexible pumping system was used, with an electric pump for dry conditions and a diesel pump for periods of heavy rainfall. With a total capacity of more than 10,000 m³ per hour, the system ensures reliable drainage even during heavy rain.
The diversion was successfully completed, allowing construction of the concrete culvert to continue as planned. The combination of the steel pipe and high-capacity pumping system ensured a reliable water flow throughout the work.
